ACSM, the Aspen Institute Sports & Society Program, the Global Obesity Prevention Center (GOPC) at Johns Hopkins and the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation USA are convening a dynamic one-day conference on October 5 that will include interactive panel presentations with influential Olympic athletes, national experts, lunch-time ideation workgroups and a fireside chat with 19th U.S. Surgeon General Vivek H. Murthy concluding the day.
The Innovation Summit, titled “Moving American Health Across the Spectrum of Physical Activity,” will feature a number of interactive agenda topics including: next steps in getting more kids moving through sports; compelling and emerging scientific evidence on physical activity and health; and the role of industry and technology for scale featuring companies like Fitbit and SportsEngine.
The goal of the summit is to generate powerful insights, new ideas and innovative, actionable opportunities that will improve health and prevent chronic conditions across the lifespan.
Some of the speakers include: Missy Franklin, five-time Olympic gold medalist; Edwin Moses, two-time Olympic gold medalist; Woody Scal, chief business officer of Fitbit; Tom Farrey, ESPN reporter and director of the Aspen Institute Sports & Society Program; and Surgeon General Murthy.
