Advance Notice: ACSM to Auction Sports Memorabilia and More

Sept. 25, 2024

After more than 40 years at the same location, ACSM has transitioned its operations to a short-term office space and the ACSM Board of Trustees voted in 2023 to sell the national headquarters building and property in downtown Indianapolis.

As part of this transition, we’re inviting ACSM members and certified professionals to participate in two online auctions from September 30 to October 14. One online auction will feature sports memorabilia and collectables not tied to ACSM; shipping will be made available for these items. A second online auction will feature office furniture, filing cabinets and more that will not be moved to the current or future new office spaces. Shipping will not be offered for this sale, and all items must be picked up in-person at 401 W Michigan in Indianapolis.

A notification will be sent to all members and certified professionals on Monday, September 30 when the auctions open, to view available items and place bids.

It’s important to note that the auction will not include any historical items tied to ACSM’s rich, 70-year history or other items that need to be retained for business purposes.  In preparation for the building sale, ACSM Historian Sean Walsh, Ph.D., FACSM carefully assessed the entire contents of the building to determine what should be protected, saved and stored due to its historical value and significance. Learn more about Sean’s work and process by reading his blog post.

Proceeds from the auction will help defray ACSM’s operational expenses associated with the sale of the building and any additional funds will be considered for a donation to the ACSM Foundation.
