ACSM, Technogym Renew Long-Standing Partnership

June 26, 2024

INDIANAPOLIS- The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), the largest, most respected sports medicine and exercise science organization in the world, and Technogym, a world-leading company in equipment and digital technologies for fitness, health and sport, announced they will continue and enhance their collaboration with ACSM’s global health initiative Exercise is Medicine (EIM). Founded in 2007, EIM’s goal is to encourage health professionals to include exercise plans in medical prescriptions, with the aim of effectively treating and preventing chronic health conditions.

The partnership renewal makes Technogym an official Global ACSM partner and Global EIM Partner in all countries. Technogym’s AI-driven digital ecosystem and its superior equipment born from advanced biomechanics and physiology research enable health operators to deliver a precise and personalized data-based exercise prescription and allow tracking and monitoring of data related to the patient’s condition.

“We are excited about this next phase of our long-time partnership with Technogym,” said ACSM President Stella Volpe, Ph.D., RDN, FACSM, ACSM-CEP. “Leaders evolve and adapt as they seek continuous improvement, and we share a mutual vision to drive better health through physical activity and advances in science, technology and innovation.”

Technogym and ACSM are actively engaged in promoting physical activity as an integral part of the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases so that the amount and quality of the exercise performed by the patient would be considered by the general practitioner as a clinical parameter on par with blood pressure, weight and glycaemia.

Since 2010, researchers at ACSM have partnered with Technogym to draw up a series of protocols for the treatment of numerous diseases such as cardiovascular, obesity, type-2 diabetes and osteoporosis by means of specific exercise programs. ACSM has made its training and information channels available to promote the prescription of these therapeutic protocols among the network of medical professionals it represents: 70 sports medicine professions and nearly 50,000 members and certified professionals from 90 countries.

Technogym has supported the role of physical exercise as a medicine for years through its research activities and its complete ecosystem of products and programs. Technogym has also been chosen as a partner for several global projects and institutional initiatives linked to the promotion of physical exercise as a form of prevention and as a real medicine for treating numerous pathologies.
