Exercise is Medicine® (EIM) is a global health initiative managed by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) that is focused on encouraging primary care physicians and other health care providers to include physical activity when designing treatment plans for patients and referring their patients to the EIM Credential Exercise and Health Fitness Professionals. EIM is committed to the belief that physical activity is integral in the prevention and treatments of diseases and should be regularly assessed and “treated” as part of all healthcare.

ACSM depends on volunteers to help with important aspects of the conference. This includes the registration area, session monitoring, help desk, logistics and more.

Registration for this opportunity opens in March ahead of the Annual Meeting. Available to student members and professional in training members participating in educational programs (such as fellowships).

ACSM is looking for guest hosts for the Healthy Youth Sports Podcast. Join Eric Utterback, ACSM Director, Strategic Programs, as he discusses youth and adolescent sports, injury prevention, physical activity and health, with some of the world’s leading subject matter experts. This podcast is designed for coaches, administrators, parents and athletes. Episodes are released bi-weekly on Wednesdays. Learn more about the podcast. The Continuing Professional Education (CPE) subcommittee within CCRB is responsible for setting policy and then implementing the policies for continuing education for ACSM certified professionals, specifically through the approved provider program. The CPE has developed a streamlined rubric and evaluation process to help with the speed of reviewing continuing education approved provider applications. We are looking for volunteers to complete evaluations of approved provider applications on an as-needed basis. We anticipate that this will require approximately 5-7 hours of review time monthly and will help provide a more reasonable workload for the volunteers on the CPE subcommittee. Please reach out to Shelby Mandla (smandla@acsm.org) if you have any questions or are interested in volunteering.
