ACSM From Around Field Science Webinar Series Open to Students

ACSM’s From Around the Field Science webinar series is designed to provide ACSM students and members with an opportunity to learn about the diverse science our members conduct. Join us for informal discussions with our ACSM members to hear more about what they study, the general research methodology they use, and some of the interesting results their research is generating. In January, Dr. Lars Nybo from the University of Copenhagen and Dr. Magni Mohr from the University of the Faroe Islands from will present Intermittent Sport: Testing and Training”. In this webinar presenters will discuss the importance of training and performance optimization in adult athletes. Dr. Nybo and Dr. Mohr were authors on the ACSM pronouncement, that reviews the available tests in different exercise domains, forming the basis for recommendations on how to compose a comprehensive yet feasible test battery that may be integrated into a seasonal competition and training plan.  Join us on Jan. 29 from 12 – 1 p.m. ET for this interesting discussion. Abstract Deadline for APS summit in April 2026

The American Physiological Society will host the 2026 flagship meeting April 23-26 in Minneapolis, MN. The Summit is dedicated to sharing discoveries on the cutting edge of bioscience. The meeting is open to life science researchers, educators and students from around the world. Major aspects of the meeting include eight game-changer sessions ranging from maternal diets to xenotransplantation, 80 foundational science sessions, poster receptions, social events, and more. Review topic categories, submission instructions and award opportunities before deadlines end.

Upcoming RCCN Artificial Intelligence webinars 

The Research Centers Collaborative Network of the National Institute of Aging, National Institute of Health will host two webinars that will discuss ethical issues related to Artificial Intelligence in aging research.  

On Jan. 22, 2026 from 3 – 4 p.m. ET, Jason Moore, PhD and Tiffani J. Bright, PhD will host “AI Fairness and Bias in ADRD and Aging Research”. The webinar will cover how potential bias in the data used to train AI models can potentially negatively impact outputs, and how to address data bias. Register HERE 

The second webinar on Feb. 19, 2026, from 3 – 4 p.m. ET will feature Jason Moore, PhD and Virginia L. Bartlett, PhD as they discuss “AI and Privacy in Monitoring Older Adults in the Home”. This webinar will provide a general overview of how AI tools are used for monitoring older adults and cover privacy concerns in more detail, followed by a Q&A session. Register HERE
