Leadership
Randall Dick is an innovative leader with RANGE: a proven aptitude for working in unique settings to improve the health and safety of diverse populations (medical, performing arts, athletic). He is a Fellow and former Board of Trustee of the American College of Sports Medicine and worked for twenty years with the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) developing and managing its sports medicine and injury prevention programs, including two generations of the NCAA Injury Surveillance System.
He has served on the US Lacrosse Sports Science Committee, as consultant for Major League Baseball and as invited speaker at the Third International Conference on Concussion in Sport. He currently serves as a Board member for USA Boxing Foundation and has authored more than 40 peer-reviewed publications and multiple book chapters on a variety of sports medicine and performing arts issues. In 2008, Randall joined Eli Lilly and Company where he joined a Real World Evidence Center of Excellence developing research applications for large electronic health records.
In 2018, he joined IBM Watson Health (now Merative) as Director of Client Services for Treatment Pathways, a tool allowing researchers to quickly analyze millions of claims and medical record data. Since 2015, Randall has led Athletes and the Arts, a non-profit collaboration of 18 sports medicine and performing arts organizations committed to optimizing performing artist wellness and performance by educating health care providers of their needs and how to integrate sports medicine principals where appropriate.
Steve Rock, MD
Co-Chair
Steve Rock, MD has been a proud member of ACSM since the late 1980’s, when he joined as an undergraduate student at the University of Houston. During medical school at Tulane University and his Pediatric Residency at the University of Wisconsin, he continued to pursue opportunities to learn about the care of athletes. He completed his Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship at MetroSport in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He lives in Dubuque, Iowa where he has been the team physician for local high schools, colleges and performing arts groups. He has been part of the advisory group for Drum Corps International and is passionate about care of the marching arts athlete. Whether it’s helping a young athlete return to competition, supporting a collegiate athlete, guiding an active adult through recovery, or attending to the needs of performing artists, Dr. Rock is dedicated to keeping patients moving and performing at their best.
