FAQs

More Questions?
No mascot? No problem! The true reason for the Mascot Challenge is to share something recognizable and iconic and/or to showcase your team promoting the importance of physical activity through this year’s theme.
Using the hashtag #EIMOC25 will allow other schools/fans to follow along your journey and gain more traction to promote your video for being a fan favorite.
Review the objectives and guidelines for this year’s challenge. This will allow you to build an outline that meets the guidelines and build a team that is supportive of this.
The obvious first choice is the EIM-OC leadership team. No one will know the events better than the people who are leading them. Involving student organizations can enhance student participation campus wide. Students also have the best ideas on how to engage the audience. The media services on your campus can help make the video high quality with their creative eyes. They will also be able to educate on copyright/exclusive rights to university logos, media clips, etc.

Walking Challenge

EIM-OC participant Michigan State University co-hosts an annual Walking Challenge with ACSM to get themselves and other EIM-OC campuses moving. The institution that walks and moves by wheelchair the most in one eight-hour period (in-person and/or virtual) during the month of October is named the winner.

Rules:

  • The walking challenge can take place any day in October.
  • Your walking event may be up to 8 hours in-person and/or virtual.
  • Each school is responsible for collecting their own miles and number of participants and submitting them to ACSM through this survey by November 6.

Presidential Proclamation

We highly encourage you to get your school’s president to declare October as EIM-OC month! Use this template to have them officially make the proclamation.

As times are changing, we recommend having your campus leader run through a social media reel with this proclamation. They can read the script or do a voiceover with different activities offered on campus being shown.

If your president isn’t around please use another leader on campus leader such as but not limited to:

  • Vice President
  • Dean
  • Department Chair
  • Program Director
  • Student Leadership

Make sure to capture the moment and share it with the EIM-OC community! Tag ACSM in your social media posts/stories for a chance to be featured.

GSSI Pre-Conference

The Physiology of Hydration: More Than Water Alone

This session explores the physiology of hydration through an integrated lens—examining how carbohydrate, sodium, flavor, and fluid interact to influence intake, absorption, retention, and performance. We’ll review current research on fluid balance, osmotic drivers, and palatability, highlighting mechanisms that underpin voluntary intake and thermoregulation. Attendees will gain insight into individualized strategies, including sweat profiling and timing approaches, to optimize euhydration and mitigate performance decrements associated with >2% body-mass loss. Practical applications will be linked to laboratory- and field-based research, ensuring translation from bench to field. This pre-conference equips you with evidence-based tools to support athlete hydration across diverse environments and sporting contexts.
