About the Conference
Officially endorsed by ACSM, the 2026 International Conference of Sports Medicine and Health will bring together clinicians, researchers, educators, public health professionals, industry leaders, and policymakers to share emerging research, technologies, and evidence-based practices in sports medicine and health. The program will focus on advancing exercise science, rehabilitation, injury prevention, chronic disease management, and population health. The conference will be held concurrently with the International Sports Medicine and Health Industry Expo and is also officially endorsed by the People’s Government of Hainan Province under the 2026 Provincial Convention and Exhibition Support Plan.
This conference is designed for physicians, exercise professionals, rehabilitation specialists, athletic trainers, physical therapists, researchers, educators, students, public health professionals, and organizations working in sports medicine, health promotion, rehabilitation, and related fields.

The designated conference hotel is Guo Hotel Haikou (HNA Beach & Spa Resort Haikou). The hotel is about one kilometer from the conference venue, and shuttle buses will be available to transport attendees between the hotel and the venue.
Logistics
The conference will offer support services for international participants, including visa facilitation, airport transportation, English-language programming, and technology-enabled conference facilities.
Invitation letters and visa facilitation support will be available for eligible conference participants traveling to Hainan Province.
Conference transportation will be available from Haikou Meilan International Airport to the designated conference hotel.
The official conference language is English. Simultaneous interpretation and AI-assisted caption translation will be available on site.
The Haikou National Convention and Exhibition Center is equipped with intelligent conference systems, multilingual simultaneous interpretation technology, and full 5G coverage to support conference sessions and exhibition activities. Presenters
Katie Feltman, CAE, is Chief Executive Officer of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), the world’s largest sports medicine and exercise science organization, representing nearly 50,000 members and certified professionals worldwide. After beginning her career in publishing, she advanced through leadership roles including Director of Publishing, Chief Content Officer, and Chief Operating Officer before becoming CEO in 2025.
Known for her servant leadership style and ability to build strong organizational cultures among staff and volunteer leaders, Katie has led initiatives spanning publishing, credentialing, membership, governance, board culture, advocacy, and operations. She is passionate about developing high-performing teams, driving innovation and sustainable growth, and helping organizations achieve their mission through collaboration, authenticity, and strategic leadership. Katie’s presentations focus on purpose-driven, authentic leadership, ethics, and organizational culture.
John M. Jakicic, PhD is a Professor at the University of Kansas Medical Center in the Department of Internal Medicine and the Division of Physical Activity and Weight Management. He has an interdisciplinary research program that examines the prevention and treatment of chronic health conditions, with a particular focus on the role of increased physical activity and reduced sedentary behavior. Central to this research has been a focus on the prevention and treatment of obesity as a chronic disease that includes lifestyle, pharmacotherapy, and metabolic and bariatric surgery. He served on numerous national committees focused on obesity, physical activity, and other chronic health conditions, which included his appointment by the US Department of Health and Human Services to the 2018 Physical Activity Guidelines Scientific Advisory Committee. He authored the 2024 American College of Sport Medicine’s Consensus paper focused on obesity and excess adiposity, and he is currently the President-Elect of the American College of Sports Medicine.
Elizabeth A. Joy, MD, MPH, FACSM, FAMSSM, Dip ACLM is a family, sports, and lifestyle medicine physician. Her 30 + year career has spanned private practice, academic medicine, research, integrated healthcare delivery, public health, and leadership. She previously served as the Chief Medical Officer for Lore Health and Senior Medical Director for Wellness and Nutrition at Intermountain Health in Salt Lake City, UT. She received her B.S. and M.D. degrees from the University of Minnesota and a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Utah. She completed her Family Medicine Residency and Sports Medicine Fellowship at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN. She is an adjunct clinical faculty member at the University of Utah School of Medicine in the Department of Family Medicine and Public Health, and in the College of Health Department of Nutrition & Integrative Physiology. Dr. Joy is the Past President of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and the Female Athlete Triad Coalition. She chairs the Exercise Is Medicine Governance Committee for the ACSM and the Healthcare Sector for the National Physical Activity Plan. Her research interests include diabetes prevention, physical activity promotion, and the Female Athlete Triad. She is the host of the podcast, “She Leads Science.”
Francis Neric, MS, MBA is a senior leader in occupational credentialing and workforce development whose work focuses on advancing the health fitness profession. As Associate Vice President of Certification and Credentialing at the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), he oversees ACSM’s professional certification enterprise and helps link formalized education with recognized career pathways for exercise professionals. He supports national and international efforts to strengthen professional standards through leadership with the Committee on Accreditation for the Exercise Sciences (CoAES), the United States Registry of Exercise Professionals (USREPS), and the International Confederation of Sport and Exercise Science Practice (ICSESP). With master’s degrees in clinical exercise physiology and business administration, Neric brings both technical expertise and business strategy to credentialing innovation. His publications and presentations focus on academic accreditation, certification, professional recognition, and the integration of exercise professionals into multidisciplinary care teams.
