April is Autism Acceptance Month — a time to celebrate neurodiversity and promote inclusive practices in health and fitness. It’s also an opportunity for professionals to learn how to create supportive, person-centered exercise experiences for autistic individuals.
In partnership with Exercise Connection, ACSM created the Autism Exercise Specialist Certificate® and Course to equip exercise professionals and others with essential, evidence-based knowledge about the role of exercise for those with autism, the use of inclusive practices and effective exercise programming for this population.
Brush up on personal training terminology, including applied anatomy, basic biomechanics and nutrition principles.
Review key tools: fitness assessment practices, pre-activity screenings, weight management, behavior change and more.
Study risk stratification, special considerations for cardiovascular disease, frailty assessment and more.
In short, everyone!
Fitness professionals certified by any organization can earn CECs through ACSM’s online courses.
Don’t need CECs? No problem! Feel free to take any course that interests you. You do not need to be a fitness professional to learn with ACSM.
