ACSM will again provide opportunities for students to work with staff and professionals to review their CV, resume or LinkedIn profile. Students will be able to discuss career goals, post-graduation plans and job applications to help coordinate their personal resources, such as resumes, social media profiles and application letters.
The ACSM Student Lounge, housed in the Georgia World Congress Center’s room CC-C111, will be open 3-6 p.m. on Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday during the annual meeting. You may bring hard copies of your resume/CV, or you can log on to your social media career profile during the session.
Whether you are looking for career advice, mentoring, top-tier educational sessions, information about best practices, networking or social opportunities with other students, the annual meeting and student lounge can help you connect with peers in exercise science and sports medicine.
The ACSM Student Lounge is the hub of student engagement activities and career-development opportunities. Relax and interact with fellow students or make dinner plans with others via dinner sign-ups. Light refreshments will be provided.

Student & Early Career Pre-Conference
The Student & Early Career Pre-conference will take place Tuesday, May 27, from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Georgia World Congress Center’s room CC-C211. This year, the ACSM pre-conference topic, “From Draft to Journal: Writing Habits, Tips, and Insights from Editors,” will feature the three editors of ACSM journals:
- Andrew Jones, PhD, FACSM, editor-in-chief of Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise®;
- Joni Mettler, PhD, CSCS, editorial board member for the Translational Journal of the American College of Sports Medicine; and
- Stephanie Custer, managing editor of both the Translational Journal of the American College of Sports Medicine and Exercise, Sport, and Movement .
The pre-conference is intended to help educate attendees about the process of publishing their research in the ACSM journals. The speakers will provide information about developing good writing habits, tips for preparing a paper for submission to a journal, and what to expect during the review and publication processes. The pre-conference is free to attend, but pre-registration is required via the annual meeting registration form. Complimentary to attend. The event is currently sold out, but check back for cancellations.
The annual meeting will offer sessions and special programming especially for students and early career professionals. To learn about the additional student opportunities, visit the ACSM student page, which contains more detail on the President’s Cup Competition and Annual Student Knowledge Bowl.
