Welcome, caregivers! If you are here, someone you care about has had a diagnosis of cancer and you are looking for exercise resources for that person.
The Moving Through Cancer initiative has a bold goal of making exercise standard of care in oncology by 2029. On this page, you’ll find resources made for you, including a link to a booklet that was developed by experts to help people living with and beyond cancer to better understand how to get started, as well as a link to our exercise oncology directory of programs.
We’ve designed the directory to add a triage tool at the front, so that you and your loved one will be referred to programming that is most appropriate, according to current functional ability and symptoms. The triage tool will create a report to take to the doctor, if you like, to start the conversation about exercise. There is also a directory of nearly 2,000 programs and we will point out the ones best for your loved one based on answers to the triage survey. If your loved one is willing to connect to exercise online, the list will be longer.
This tool will provide a way to connect to exercise oncology programming that is appropriate for the current state of function, health, and symptoms of the person for whom you are providing care.
If there are resources you need that you don’t see here or you have feedback, we hope you will be in touch with us so that we can improve. Email us at EIM@acsm.org.
