To All Our ACSM Volunteers :

As president and CEO, respectively, of ACSM, we want to jointly thank you for the time and effort you are contributing to the fields of sports medicine, exercise science and related fields — not only during National Volunteer Week, but for the other 51 weeks of the year as well!

It is heartening, but not surprising, to know how many of our members are willing and able to devote their skills and expertise to important ACSM causes. We could not do this work without you, and we are incredibly grateful for your generosity.

In particular, your volunteer work is helping us achieve the five goals of our 2024 to 2027 strategic plan

  1. Create a compelling customer experience.
  1. Deliver an ongoing commitment to technology and infrastructure.
  1. Perform a governance realignment.
  1. Build a fiscally sustainable organization.
  1. Promote excellence in science and evidence-based practice and expand ACSM’s reputation as a global scientific leader.

All five goals are important, but it is the fifth where the work of ACSM’s volunteers has the most impact; it serves not only ACSM, but the wider scientific and medical community and thus, in turn, the general public. After all, ACSM’s vision is to “Extend and enrich lives through the power of movement,” and the practical mission that vision inspires is to “Educate and empower professionals to advance the science and practice of health and human performance.”

Your contributions raise ACSM’s profile, helping us be more effective advocates for the health of all.

Thank you again for all that you do for ACSM and our field. Without you, none of this would be possible. And, if you see ways we could improve our efforts to promote movement for all, we would love to hear from you.

In Health,

Stella L. Volpe, PhD, RDN, ACSM-CEP, FACSM, ACSM President
