RD’s needed for Female Athlete Health survey

Concordia University is looking for volunteers to participate in this survey titled, “Knowledge of Low Energy Availability Conditions Among Sports and Non-sports Registered Dietitians: Supporting Awareness of Female Athlete Triad and Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport.”

The purpose of the study is to examine the effect of a specialty in sports dietetics on Female Athlete Triad (Triad) and Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (RED-S) knowledge. The primary goal of this study is to investigate Triad and RED-S knowledge competence of sport specialist registered dietitians (RD) compared to non-sports specialists RDs. Volunteers must currently be or have once been an RD.

All surveys will be completely anonymous with no personal information collected.

The study has received IRB approval from Concordia University, St. Paul (IRB# 2026_067). The survey is a modified version of a previously validated 18-item questionnaire to assess theoretical and practical understanding of Triad and RED-S and will take approximately 5 minutes to complete.

If you would like to participate, please review the Informed Consent on the initial page of the linked survey found here: Knowledge of Triad and RED-S Questionnaire.

This research has no connection to the American College of Sports Medicine and data collection and sharing of results are not associated with the ACSM.

Please direct any questions to the principal investigator, Rebecca DeHamer, MS, RD via email at dehamerr@csp.edu.

GSSI Pre-Conference

The Physiology of Hydration: More Than Water Alone

This session explores the physiology of hydration through an integrated lens—examining how carbohydrate, sodium, flavor, and fluid interact to influence intake, absorption, retention, and performance. We’ll review current research on fluid balance, osmotic drivers, and palatability, highlighting mechanisms that underpin voluntary intake and thermoregulation. Attendees will gain insight into individualized strategies, including sweat profiling and timing approaches, to optimize euhydration and mitigate performance decrements associated with >2% body-mass loss. Practical applications will be linked to laboratory- and field-based research, ensuring translation from bench to field. This pre-conference equips you with evidence-based tools to support athlete hydration across diverse environments and sporting contexts.
